# The difference between Chain-of-Thought Approach and Tree-of-Thought Approach

The "Chain-of-Thought" is like following a straight road to reach a solution—it’s one thought leading to another in a straight line. On the other hand, the "Tree-of-Thought" is more like exploring different branches of a tree; you look at many possible answers or outcomes branching out from the main issue. So, while Chain-of-Thought keeps it simple and direct, Tree-of-Thought dives into complexities and options.
